About
A private cigar club with an open catalogue.
What this is
The Cigar Shelf is two things. The catalogue is public: over a thousand cigars, each broken down the same way — where it was made, what is in the wrapper, binder and filler, how big it is, what shape, and how strong. Anyone can read it, and anyone can use the data.
Behind a login there is a club: a humidor that knows what you own, a wishlist for what you don't yet, a record of what you thought of everything you have smoked, and a room to argue about it in. That half is private, and stays that way.
Who runs it
One person, in Sweden, for a handful of friends. It is not a company and there is no team. If something is wrong, there is nobody else to pass it to — write to me.
What it is not
Nothing here is for sale. Prices are shown because knowing roughly what a cigar costs is useful when you are deciding what to try next, not because you can buy one here. There are no retailer links, no affiliate codes and no stock.
There is no advertising and no profiling. Page views are counted; who you are is not. The privacy policy says exactly what is collected.
Age
This is a site about tobacco, for adults. Members confirm they are 25 or older, and the public pages ask the same before showing a catalogue of tobacco products.
The data
The catalogue is published openly under CC BY 4.0, through a free API and an MCP server for AI assistants. Use it; credit The Cigar Shelf. Tasting notes are machine-written and labelled as such — the structured facts are the part worth relying on.
